I’m Eric Kaltman, an Assistant Professor of Computer Science at California State University Channel Islands where I’ve founded the Software History Futures and Technologies (SHFT) research group.
My primary research goal is to make the records of software and software development more accessible and amenable to critical interpretation. This means that I design tools and methodologies that combine computer and information science with the needs of historians and archives. As an interdisciplinary scholar with degrees in History, Asian studies, and Computer Science, I straddle a number of fields and traditions.
