Installation of a custom fabricated 88 RGB LED light bar in the Free Speech Movement Cafe in Moffitt Library at UC Berkeley fro 2009-2011. Created with Omar Khan, Sam Borgeson, and Laura Kaltman, the bar portrayed a stacked bar graph based on live energy data read directly from the cafe’s circuit breakers. A server relied that data to an Arduino controller attached to the bar. I fabricated the LED bar, including working with contractors to design it backing, plastic housing and LED wiring. Below is a rather grainy video of the installation, a couple of photographs from the fabrication and installation, and a quick Adobe Flash visualization of the live data for testing purposes.
